ARISA
AIDA Freediving Instructor & Local Fisherwoman
Born in Tokyo in 1984, Arisa spent her early years in competitive swimming and later built a career in pharmaceutical development. Seeking a deeper connection with the world, she eventually left the corporate life behind to embark on a three-year journey across Southeast Asia.
It was during this odyssey—spanning the crystal waters of Thailand, the Philippines, and Bali—that she discovered the transformative power of freediving. In 2019, she earned her AIDA Freediving Instructor certification in the vibrant diving community of Bali, marking the beginning of her life-long commitment to the ocean.
In 2020, Arisa found her true home on the remote island of Amami Oshima. Trading the city's pace for the rhythm of the tides, she embraced a sustainable lifestyle rooted in harmony with nature. Her bond with the sea deepened further in 2026, when she began her journey as a professional traditional fisherwoman, sourcing from the ocean with respect and gratitude.
This daily immersion in the marine ecosystem allows her to share a unique perspective—one where the ocean is not just a place to dive, but a source of life to be respected and protected. Today, through AMAMI Freediving, Arisa guides everyone from beginners to advanced divers, offering not just technical instruction, but a mindful connection to the silent world beneath the waves.
